Prejean Creative turns 15

2012 marks our 15th year in business and it’s already shaping up to be a true milestone year. We have some exciting developments in progress, which we look forward to sharing over the next 12 months. Of course, we’ll take a few opportunities to look back at the journey that has taken us to this point, too, but this year is really about the road ahead. While you may never be sure where your path will lead you, a good map will give you direction. We may take a side trip here and there, but we’re doing our best to follow our map and, above all, enjoy the ride.

Taking the Music World by Storm

Hunter Hayes CD collection

We’ve really enjoyed watching the success of musician Hunter Hayes during the last year. A few highlights: he released his first major label album (Atlantic Records Nashville), which was named one of the 10 Best Country Albums of the Year by Roughstock;  the single “Storm Warning” made Billboard’s Hot 100 chart; he performed on tour with Taylor Swift; appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and at the Grand Ole Opry; and headlined his own national tour in the fall. That’s just the short list. This handsome young man from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is much more than a teen heartthrob, although with those big blue eyes, he has set the hearts of many young girls aflutter. He’s an extremely talented musician and songwriter who also knows the value of family, faith and roots.

Recently, we were looking through the collection of his early CDs, for which we designed the packaging, along with some miscellaneous photos. Hunter was just a toddler when he started performing, but he was such a natural. Watching him grow up, we knew he was destined for great things. With all he’s accomplished already, we can’t wait to see what’s next.

Katrina Poster to Benefit St. Bernard Project

Katrina Poster

As the East Coast cleans up after Hurricane Irene, today marks the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. While there’s been progress six years later, many are still struggling to recover from the storm’s devastating effects. Today we’re launching a project that we hope can help in some small way.

We’ve produced a limited edition commemorative poster depicting the resilient spirit of the people of New Orleans, and indeed all of south Louisiana. We’re donating the proceeds from the sale of this poster to the St. Bernard Project, an award-winning nonprofit organization dedicated to rebuilding the homes and lives of Katrina survivors. The group’s focus is primarily on vulnerable families, senior citizens and disabled residents.

The poster was designed by Kevin Prejean, our creative director, immediately following Hurricane Katrina in response to a fundraiser by AIGA New Orleans. A single print was produced and sold at an auction benefiting hurricane relief. The poster now for sale is a limited edition silkscreen on French Construction 120# Blacktop cover paper stock, measuring 18 inches x 32 inches. It was silkscreened by Purple Monkey Design in NOLA. The price is $38, plus shipping, and can be ordered here.
