History
Initially part of the Beavin El Oregano Ranch since the late 1800s, San Isidro Ranch was purchased from the Beavin family after the untimely passing of a family member. The San Isidro Ranch property was selected by Stuart Ranch Land Development due to the diverse rolling hill terrain and proximity to larger acreage neighbors. Over the past 150 years the ranch was a working sheep/cattle ranch with an emphasis on livestock yet sustaining a healthy population of native wildlife.

After closing on the property in 2011, the decision was made to also lease the adjacent El Oregano and La Salada ranches in order to form a nearly 100,000-acre unit for wildlife enhancement. This allowed Stuart Ranch Development to create a single 60,000-acre perimeter, high-game-fenced area along with 38,000 acres of traditional low-fenced hunting area. All three ranches support native wildlife including whitetail deer, Rio Grande turkey, both bobwhite and blue quail, white wing and mourning dove, javelina and multiple species of ducks. In 2022 the entire area came under the management and direction of biologist Ben Koeth’s intensive management plan.
